An independent telecoms firm in Harrogate has pledged its support to helping the town tackle homelessness with the launch of a new charity partnership scheme.

Xi Communications, which is based in Windsor House, will donate £30 to Harrogate Homeless Project for every new local business phone line, broadband circuit or mobile connection that is ordered or transferred to them in 2022.

The scheme is being launched to mark Harrogate Homeless Project’s 30th anniversary, which is being celebrated this year.

Martin Taylor of Xi Communications said: “It’s hard to imagine anything worse than having nowhere safe to sleep at night and nowhere to turn for help.

“Harrogate Homeless Project is a fantastic local charity that gives people support when they are at rock bottom and helps them on a positive journey forward.

“As well as making a donation for every new line and connection we set up for a business, we will be working hard to raise awareness of Harrogate Homeless Project and the fantastic work they do to help people in need in our community.”

Jenni Moulson, Chair of Harrogate Homeless Project, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Xi Communications as one of our 30th anniversary business partners and are incredibly grateful for their pledge to support our work as their business grows.

“Sustained financial support like this will enable us to expand our day centre services and therapeutic work to help people who are experiencing homelessness receive the support they need to move forward to an independent future.”
