Volunteering
There are many volunteering opportunities at the Harrogate Homeless Project, for example:
Night Hostel
The night hostel always runs with a minimum of two people on duty. You would work alongside a staff member or experienced volunteer: Helping to run the night hostel in an evening (7pm-10pm) Sleeping in the hostel on the overnight shift (10pm – 9am the following day)
Drop-In (Springboard)
The Project runs a drop-in session, 5 days per week (between 10.00am – 2.00pm) the shifts available is 9.30-12.00 and 12.00-14.30 . Duties would include making tea/coffee and light refreshments for clients; lending a friendly ear to those using the service; supervising use of laundry facilities and general help.
Fundraising
If you have the creative skills to plan, organize and execute events then we would love to hear from you.
John Tweddle has organised to walk the Camino St Jacques or Way of St James to Santiago de Compostela in aid of the project.
Many of you will have heard of the Way of St James to Santiago de Compostela; for some it is known just simply as The Camino. It is a pilgrim’s route, or more correctly a whole collection of routes from all over Europe finishing at Santiago de Compostela in North West
Rather than just walk it, which would be rewarding enough, He is offering it up with sponsorship to the Harrogate Homeless Project
For more information about the walk and how to sponsor please follow the link below.
