The Hostel

7 Bower Street, HG1 5BQ: Direct Access Hostel

We are open 365 days per year. We provide emergency accommodation for single people over the age of 18 who are homeless. Those gaining access must have a local connection to the Harrogate area, although if a bed is available we may offer one night to those from outside the area.

Breakfast is included, whilst other meals are dependant on donations, use of communal kitchen facilities and a TV lounge.

Residents receive advice regarding accommodation and signposting to other agencies where appropriate. Outreach Support following move-on is offered.

To be considered for a place at the hostel is via self-referral by phone or on the door (between 09.00 – 13.00) or at Springboard (between 10.00am – 12.00). Alternatively we accept referrals from other agencies, including Harrogate Borough Council, Probation, The Community Alcohol Team, CRI, the Police and hospital.

We work with all clients to help secure suitable move-on accommodation and provide advice and guidance on other issues they may be facing.

All clients, no matter how long their stay, are offered individual support and life skills training, with advice and support towards sustaining independent accommodation. There is joint working with other agencies to provide the appropriate specialist support.
