Accommodation

  • 7 -8 Bower Street: Direct Access Night Hostel

We are open 365 days per year. We provide emergency accommodation for single people over the age of 18 who are homeless. Clients must have a local connection to the Harrogate area, although if a bed is available we may offer one night to those from outside the area.

All food is provided, on a self-catering basis, with communal kitchen facilities and a TV lounge.

Clients receive advice regarding accommodation and signposting to other agencies where appropriate. Outreach Support following move-on is offered.

Access to the hostel is through self-referral by phone or on the door, however we also accept referrals from other agencies, including Harrogate Borough Council, Probation, Harrogate Drugs & Alcohol Agency, the Police and hospital.

We work with all clients to secure suitable move-on accommodation and provide advice and guidance on other issues they may be facing.

All clients, no matter how long their stay, are offered individual support and life skills training, with advice and support towards sustaining independent accommodation. There is joint working with other agencies to provide the appropriate specialist support.

Drop-In Service (SPRINGBOARD)

Our new drop in service is called SPRINGBOARD. Information on the service can be found on the springboard page.

The Future

The Harrogate Homeless Project has been awarded a total of £136,000 from th Government’s Places of Change Programme. This will see the project change from a night shelter model to a full hostel model, allowing all of the residents access to their accommodation during the day.The aim of the programme is to make sure that those getting hostel accommodation are also empowered and encouraged to access training and find employment.

When the project is complete the hostel will have 16 single accommodation all with wash basins. There will also be a new kitchen dinning room, Lounge, Bathrooms, Office and meeting room.
