The Harrogate Homeless Project was established in 1991, by Churches Together, in response to the need for emergency accommodation for those sleeping rough in Harrogate.
What we provide
The project has a direct access hostel providing accommodation for people who find them selves homeless or facing homelessness and a Day Centre providing support and signposting for people who find themselves homeless or vulnerably housed.
Who we can help
The Project accommodates single adults over 18 years old, who have a connection to the Harrogate area (whether through employment, family, or having lived in the area previously). We cover the district.
Company
The Project is a registered company (No. 2634724) and a Registered Charity (No. 1011337). The Project is managed by a Board of Trustees and employs 7 full-time and 7 part-time members of staff. The Project currently has approximately over 30 volunteers covering evening and Springboard shifts.
The Future
The Harrogate Homeless Project has completed an extensive refurbishment programme, funded by the Government’s Places of Change Programme. This has seen the project change from a night shelter model to a full hostel model, allowing all of the residents access to their accommodation during the day.The aim of the programme is to make sure that those getting hostel accommodation are also empowered and encouraged to access training and find employment.
The hostel has 16 single bedrooms, all with wash basins. There is a fully fitted kitchen dining room and communal lounge.
HHP aims to treat individuals with dignity, impartiality and respect, meeting the basic physical needs of warmth, shelter and food. Equally importantly, we provide empathy and understanding, in a caring and supportive environment.
