Our first ever Open Day was a huge success with dozens of local people taking the opportunity to visit the hostel, see our facilities and meet residents, staff and volunteers. Over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
We were delighted that so many people responded to our invitation to drop in and find out more about our work to support homeless single adults in Harrogate and we really enjoyed chatting to visitors. Many of the tours of the building were carried out by some of our current residents and we are very grateful to them for taking the time to show people round and share their stories and experiences of HHP.
Our staff and trustees were on hand to answer questions and discuss some of our plans for the future, which include expanding our Springboard Day Centre, both in terms of opening hours and services.
We were all grateful to those who visited for taking the time to find out more about how we are tackling homelessness and helping people move on with their lives. We were able to describe the various touching points of the service, from the day centre where people can have a hot meal, a shower, a change of clothes and even attend a weekly GP service, to our move on houses which are a further step towards independent living when leaving the hostel.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to come and visit us and due to its success we are hoping to repeat the event again in the future.
